Investigating the connection between Dark Matter and GW merger events

The standard model of cosmology establishes Dark Matter as a non-relativistic cold fluid, thanks to the many observations which necessitate its existence as well as constrain its theoretical possibilities. Constraints on Dark Matter are however significantly weaker at galactic/sub-galactic length-scales which make these prime areas to expect departure from cold fluid behaviour. Consequently, many beyond Cold Dark Matter (CDM) formulations have been investigated along these lines in the literature. A prime candidate among these formulations hypothesise that at galactic/sub galactic scales Dark Matter acquires wavelike behaviour which could give rise to a pressure-like contribution to the dynamics! In this talk, I will investigate a few specific consequences of the formulation of wavelike dark matter (WDM) upon the dynamics of compact binary inspirals. I will discuss the effects brought on by WDM upon individual binary systems as well as on a population of merging binaries. From the results of the population study I will match to observational data from LVK (GWTC-3). I will conclude by highlighting the future potential of our work in the light of the upcoming GW missions.
