COLLOQUIUM
PROFESSOR JOGESH PATI |
Professor Emeritus, University of Maryland, USA |
UNIFICATION OF FORCES AND THE EVOLUTION OF THE UNIVERSE |
Developments in particle physics and cosmology over the last four decades have shown that the Very Large (The Universe) and The Very Small (the microscopic constituents of all matter) are intimately connected. The colloquium will present aspects of this link. Following a brief survey of our current knowledge of the fundamental particles and their forces, it will in particular emphasize attempts to unify the apparently diverse particles and their forces, and the implications of such a unification for the evolution of the universe. |
