ANATOMY OF MICROQUASARS - NEW TECHNIQUES AND PROSPECTS OF ASTROSAT

Origin of superluminal Radio jets in Microqasars and its connection with disk accretion and state transition is a long sought answer astronomers like to give but conventional spectroscopic method is proven to be inadequate because of model degeneracy. Additionally, numerical approaches also fail to constrain radiation geometry satisfactorily. The speaker will address this issue using spectro-temporal view of accretion disk before, on and after superluminal jets. Techniques like lag-coherence measurements, frequency resolved spectroscopy are proven to be powerful methods to provide key features in constraining radiation geometry. The speaker shall discuss results obtained from these methods which are under development and a simple analytical method that can reproduce both time lag and rms spectra. Using some recent observations, he shall explore high resolution spectroscopic capabilities of the current mission NuSTAR and the prospect of broadband spectroscopy as well timing capabilities of the upcoming mission ASTROSAT.
