Some aspects of the fluid dynamics of clouds

Clouds present a complicated turbulence and phase change problem. The speaker will begin by describing the problem and touch upon why we need to study it. To study clouds, we construct simple model flows consisting of one or a few vortices and obtain droplet distributions, and the effect of the resulting patchy temperature profiles on the dynamics. She will describe these models and how they form building blocks for the cloud flow. These models have applicability in other flows as well.
