TESTING GENERAL RELATIVITY USING ADVANCED GRAVITATIONAL WAVE INTERFEROMETERS

In this talk, the speaker will discuss various proposed tests of General Relativity (GR) using Gravitational Wave (GW) Observations. Proposed tests of GR comes, broadly, in two categories: 'model dependent' and 'model independent'. In the model dependent tests, one compares the predictions of a particular alternative theories of gravity with the observed signal and constraints free parameters of the theory. The model independent tests do not rely on a particular theory of gravity but constrains generic deviations from GR using parametrized gravitational waveform models. The speaker will discuss the accuracy with which these tests may bound GR and alternative theories of gravity using future GW observations.
