We review the basics of quintessential inflation. In this talk focus will be on the model independent aspects of the paradigm. The model building blocks required to unify late time acceleration with inflation will be presented. The alternative reheating mechanism will also be described in brief. Last but not least, we shall present a successful model of quintessential inflation based upon our recent work.
