Ram Pressure Striping and its efficiency to remove gas from galaxies

Ram Pressure Striping (RPS) and its related processes have been extensively studied as a mechanism to remove gas from galaxies since its introduction by Gunn and Gott more than four decades ago. The amount of gas present directly relates to star formation and the evolution of galaxy. We shall discuss a comparative analysis of effectiveness of RPS as a gas removing mechanism. Present talk will focus on our recent results on the dependence of RPS on ambient medium, redshift and galaxy properties. We have used a simple model which gives RPS in a worst-case scenario. Some limitations of the model along with examples will be discussed towards the end.
