Strong Cosmic Censorship Conjecture: Past, Present and Future

Deterministic nature of general relativity is ensured by the strong cosmic censorship conjecture, which asserts that spacetime cannot be extended beyond the Cauchy horizon. Although this conjecture holds true for asymptotically flat black hole spacetimes in general relativity, a potential violation of this conjecture occurs in asymptotically de Sitter spacetimes. Besides reviewing this result in detail, I will also discuss implications of the same in theories beyond GR and what it implies for the quantum fields living in these spacetimes.
