Singularity resolution in loop quantum cosmology and its consequences for early universe

Canonical quantization techniques from loop quantum gravity naturally lead to the resolution of various spacetime singularities without invoking exotic matter or violation of energy conditions. At the effective spacetime level, it has been possible to prove singularity resolution using analytical techniques. We discuss briefly, in this talk, the recent extension of this singularity resolution to various important classes of anisotropic cosmologies and black hole spacetimes, yielding a whole class of phenomenologically rich and physically sensible non-singular extensions of these classically singular spacetimes. Moreover, these non-singular effective spacetimes have been studied in their own right, serving as testbeds to probe various phenomenological effects of quantum gravity modifications in the early universe cosmologies. We discuss the challenges in obtaining a generalized effective Friedmann equation in loop quantized Bianchi-I models and our recent results in this direction. We discuss in some detail our work in probing the matter-Ekpyrotic bounce alternative to inflation obtaining the primordial power spectrum for early universe. We also briefly discuss our ongoing work on polymer matter models in GR and LQC as a novel mechanism of singularity resolution.
