  SEMINAR

Dr. Chandreyee Maitra

Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics

Exploring the hot and energetic universe: from ultra-luminous X-ray pulsars to nuclear burning white dwarfs.

In this seminar, we will provide a comprehensive overview of current insights into diverse phenomena within the hot and energetic universe. Topics covered span the investigation of extreme accretion processes in ultra-luminous sources, the characterization of compact objects within supernova remnants, and an in-depth exploration of accreting white dwarfs, particularly in the context of those nearing the Chandrasekhar mass limit and the genesis of ultra-compact binaries. The talk will further feature an exploration of the groundbreaking SRG/eROSITA all-sky X-ray mission, highlighting its sensitivity and impact. We will conclude by providing insights into future prospects, including upcoming and next-generation space missions poised to further advance our understanding of the hot and energetic universe.
