IUCAA warmly welcomes all participants to the 12
th Meeting of the BRICS Astronomy Working Group and looks forward to efficient and productive cooperation. The 12th Meeting of the BRICS Astronomy Working Group will take place from 26 to 30 October 2026 at the
Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in Pune, India, in an in-person format. The possibility of participation in an online format will also be considered for those registered participants who cannot attend the event in person.
This event is organized by the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics(IUCAA) and the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. In 2026, the scientific theme will be
“Multi-messenger and Multi-wavelength Transients,” bringing together the entire astronomy community, including researchers, outreach professionals, educators, development practitioners, and policymakers, to share the latest results and best practices.
The program will consist of:
- Scientific lectures
- Lectures on education, development, and science outreach
- Data science hackathon
- BRICS Astronomy Working Group meeting
- Scientific communication training
Attendees can expect keynote talks, hands-on training sessions, working-group discussions, and an overview of various IUCAA initiatives. Whether you join us in the picturesque IUCAA campus in Pune or online, your participation will strengthen BRICS collaboration in the study of multi-messenger, multi-wavelength phenomena.

Eligibility: B.Sc/B.Tech final year, B.S-M.S Integrated 4th year, M.Sc 1st year. Highly motivated B.S-M.S Integrated 5th year, M.Sc 2nd year, and 1st year Ph.D. students doing coursework, may be considered, on a case by case basis. Students working in basic science fields related to astronomy instrumentation/observation, experimental physics; and engineering fields related to electronics, optics and mechanical engineering, are especially encouraged to apply.
