 Got opportunities to attend advance level Workshop on Building Digital Archive using advanced features of GSDL” organized by TERI, New Delhi during 8-10 Jan 2008 and created demo archive of some collection using attended GSDL training experiences. 3.      Workshop on Open Source Standards and Software in Libraries: Spotlight on NewGenLib

         We (IUCAA Library Staff) have got opportunities organized three days workshop Open Source Standards and Software in Libraries: Spotlight on NewGenLib organized by Organized by Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) Library, Pune and NewGenLib Foundation, Hyderabad during Sept. 17-19, 2008 and got expertise to installed and successfully runs Open Source Software, Library Automation Software : NewGenLIb.

  1. The paradigms of the open source movement and the pros and cons of open source soft wares.

  2. The underlying metadata and interoperability standards on which NewGenLib is predicated and how these are used in NewGenLib via hands- exercises.

  3. Hands-on installation of the server and client side software on windows and Linux OS.

  4. The functionality of the software for database development using direct import and the Z39.50 protocol from web sources of metadata in MARC-21

  5.  Serials management in NewGenLib
