Presently I am working as Scientific Officer-C at IUCAA Library and had officiates as (OIC) (From May 2010 to April 2012) and managed responsibilities of library administration and management and reported to HOD, Library, with additional responsibilities assigned by Director, IUCAA as works related to enhance e-resources for IUCAA library for users as web of science/others important e-resources of AA related to get from consortium/on subscription based. I am graduate with BSc, Master in library and information science and PhD in LIS from Pune University and also qualified NET (UGC) in LIS. I have 21 papers in my credit and attended 15 national/international conferences/workshops and presented papers. Recently one of PhD based research paper has been published in the international journal Aslib Proceeding (ISSN: 0001-253X), Vol. 65 (2013), which has high impact; factor in the filed of LIS. We (as team member) had also organized international conference in Conferences on Library and Information Services in Astronomy (LISA) during Feb 14-17, 2010, and around 120 LIS professional participated from all over the world included 100 from foreign countries. Before it we had also organized Workshop on Open Source Standards and Software in Libraries: Spotlight on NewGenLib, during Sept. 17-19, 2008.

Jobs/Works are as follows

-          Responsible for planning and managing all library services, resources, and sub-ordinate staffs, through initiative, coordination, example, and delegation, and responsible for establishing library budgets, planning purchases and expenditures.

-          Evaluated technology needs of the library, academic users; analyzed, recommended and maintained hardware, software and data communication products used in the library.

-          Being specialized in journal section my job to get done works related to serial control as renewal of journals, new journal subscription, daily receipt of journals, works related to reminder of loose issues of journals, works related to activation of full text access of subscribed online journals, Online journals available through UGC-INFO Net, regular updating of IUCAA library homepage and well as its online journals page on regular basis.

-          We have subscribed and maintained rich e-collections such as Annual Review of AA, CUP's IAU Proc. IOP- Archive, PROLA archive, Nature Online, Science Online, Scientific American Archive, Science Direct - Subject Collection (High Energy/Nuclear Physics and Astronomy back files collection). E-books from CUP, Journals of the Royal Society , ASP Conference series, Proceeding of the International Astronomical Union, etc. and also getting following E-resources through UGC-INFONET as American Institute of Physics, American Physical Society, Emerald, Institute of Physics, ISID, JCCC, Science Direct (10 Subject Collection), Springer Link, Taylor & Francis, Web of Science, Collection/database of Indianjournals.com (196 Indian Journals) and Knimbus: Collaborative Research Platform under UGCINFO NET program and Others than that, we have access mirror server of free databases devoted to astronomy community such The SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS) , arXiv is an e-print service in the fields of physics, mathematics, The SPIRES-HEP database , International Astronomical Union (IAU) collection and AstroWeb is a collection of pointers to astronomically relevant Internet resources. http://www.iucaa.ernet.in/~library/Online1.html

-          As well as being handle agreements for journals online access with supplier/publishers as FORSA UCP Consortium, Agreements with Science Direct for back only online Elsevier journals, Agreements with NPG for nature online, with AAAS for Science online, As a library professional, participate in and contribute to regional and state-wide consortia and other collaborative, etc.

-          Digital library activities and services: With the initiate to Digital library activities and services and with experience attain by me from the attended Workshop on Building Digital Archive using advanced features of Greenstone Digital Library Software and Training Workshop on Building Digital Libraries, using Dspace to create archive for IUCAA photo-gallery, lectures/ presentation given in conference/workshop being held in IUCAA and archive of news clipping about IUCAA collected from different newspapers received in library and had created archives.

-          Being library professional, we have Created archive in NAS (Network Attached Server) my jobs is to collect, organize and manage information resources in a variety of such documents/books, periodicals including print and online, DVDs, CDs and cassettes along with online e-resources such as free/open sources archive/database as well as negotiate being consortium member for commercial database/archive as per users requirements.

-          Designed & tested and constructed website for newly combined department, focusing upon issues of accessibility, navigability and ease of maintenance. (http://www.iucaa.ernet.in/~library).

-          Works related to handle computer and its peripheral related small problems for library Automation activities and responsible to get updated and corrected library automation software slim21 which being used in our library.

-          Facilitate information literacy services within Library by evaluating, implementing and developing instruction-related web information tools and systems for new users and visitors.

-          Ensuring library and information services to more & more client-focused and more integrated into teaching, learning, and research activities and fulfilling of demands for technology-related services, the digitization of collections, and technology rich user environments.

-          IUCAA Preprint (Research Papers): Responsible for display IUCAA preprints received in the library from scientists/users which involves assigning a preprint number, displaying the same in the library preprint display area, distribution of the preprints as per the author�s mailing list and making the e-access to the preprints accessible from the IUCAA library Homepage.

-          Reprint/Page Charge Section: - Responsible for to create & send reprint/page charge order of member�s manuscripts, and keep its record, including making its inward register of reprint/page charge year wise.

-          Reference Service: Providing reference service to the in-house scientific community/visiting associates/visitors as well as requests received from outside through our available collection/ Internet/ Intranet as well as through Inter-library loan and keeps interaction with visitors and visiting associates to enhance the library services as well as improve shortcoming if any by discussing with them on time to time for improvements of library services and assist to IUCAA members / Associates/ Senior Associates/ visitors for our online facilities of journals as how to search the references/ required information  through Internet.

-          And responsible for jobs such as weeded out task of duplicate issues, miscellaneous publications, non-scientific journals of journals, works related to binding works of loose issues of journals, circulation works, annual physical verification of library documents, reader permit application, handle the library Science students visit programs, and handle institutional membership of British Council Library and American Center.

-          We have also initiates many new things as Institutional repository with help of Dspace software, which includes our in house publication as Khagol Bulletin, Annual reports, our eminent scientists� publication collection in digitised form and  news paper clippings, etc. we have also make and keep update homepage Faculty Jobs in India and keep regular updates. We are also in process to developing web 2.0 based library services viz Dynamics library homepage, Blogs, RSS feeds, etc.

-          We have also maintained collections of lectures in recorded videos of our in-house scientists and visiting scientists which being managed and being available  online  on intranet with help of NAS server

-          We have also maintains our CD/DVD collection with help of NAS server and keep all online for our in-house users. We are part of FORSA group (Forum for Resource Sharing in Astronomy) and actively participated in consortium subscription of journal/s. We have also common OPAC of all members of FORSA group libraries.

-          IUCAA Preprint (Research Papers),order of reprint/page, etc, works related to permanent transfer of duplicate issues of scientific journals to IUCAA Reference Centers after proper approval, works related to weeding out task of old and duplicates documents, works related to circulation Section, Annual Physical Verification of Library Documents: Works related to Annual Physical Verification of library documents, Reader Permit Application, assist to IUCAA members / Associates/ Senior Associates/ visitors for our online facilities of journals and e-resources, etc.
